This tiny 5-square mile island of Saba is in the northeastern Caribbean. Saba has been an extinct volcanic island for 5000 years. At its highest point, Mount Scenery towers above us at 2885 ft high and can be seen from the patio out back.
Together with Statia and St. Maarten, these three islands form the Windward Islands of the Dutch Caribbean which is part of the Dutch Kingdom.
Known as the "Unspoiled Queen," Saba earns this reputation from her rich, tropical, natural, beauty. At 2,864 feet above sea level, a dense rain forest often peeks out from a light, cool cloud of moisture.
The summit is an easy-to-moderate 90 minute hike up a trail of 1064 steps.
Saba is located at 17°38 ' N / 63°14 ' W:
175 miles East of Puerto-Rico,
175 miles North-West of Guadeloupe,
28 miles South of St. Maarten. (10-15 minute flight)
